GAATES, the Global Alliance for Accessible Technologies and Environments, and G3ict, the Global Initiative for Inclusive ICTs, today announced that the nonprofit organizations have entered into a definitive agreement under which GAATES will redeploy its activities under the Smart Cities for All global initiative. G3ict launched Smart Cities for All in 2016 in partnership with World Enabled and has led its growth since then. With GAATES now a part of Smart Cities for All, G3ict is poised for greater global outreach and impact.
The Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies – is an advocacy initiative launched in December 2006 by the United Nations Global Alliance for ICT and Development, in cooperation with the Secretariat for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at UN DESA. Its mission is to facilitate and support the implementation of the dispositions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) promoting digital accessibility and Assistive Technologies.
