Americas, Events, June 13 2018

NEW YORK, USA: For those in New York for the Conference of States Parties to the CRPD, you are welcome to attend a COSP11 side event

‘Leave No One behind – How to Include People with Intellectual Disability’

On 14 June 2018 at 8:15-9:30 AM in CR12 at UNHQ

People with intellectual disability are often the most excluded in the community, even within the disability advocacy and rights movement. At this workshop, we will explore the theme of leaving no one behind in implementing the CRPD. The workshop aims to:

  • Increase participation of people with intellectual disability in the Conference of States Parties.
  • Increase the skills and confidence of people with intellectual disability to take on leadership roles within their organisations, governments and community.
  • Raise awareness of the benefits of including people with intellectual disability.
  • Influence practice of other delegates, government bodies, advocacy groups and disability organisations to better include people with intellectual disability.

Supporters: This side event will be co-sponsored by Inclusion International, International Disability Alliance, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The event has received support from the Department of Social Services and Disabled People’s Organisations Australia.
