NIGERIA: The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, has assured that his administration will implement the policy on inclusive education for children with disabilities.
He stated this in a draft of the policy on inclusive education by the education secretariat.
The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) and USAID have been in the forefront of ensuring inclusive education for persons with disabilities and commenced the drafting of the inclusive education policy for children with disabilities in the FCT.
The project involved the inauguration of a 14-man Inclusive Education Policy Drafting Committee (IEPDC) under the USAID’s Strengthening Advocacy and Civic Engagement (SACE) programme in Nigeria.
“The FCTA has therefore made progressive efforts at ensuring that children and adults with disabilities are given equal and adequate access to education.
“The FCT administration is committed to this task that it would not leave the processes of implementing the policy objectives to chance, especially given our uncompromising stand on quality standards,” Bello said.
