UN World Data Forum in South Africa

CAPE TOWN: The first UN World Data Forum will be hosted by Statistics South Africa from 15 to 18 January 2017, with support from the Statistics Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, under the guidance of the United Nations Statistical Commission and the High-level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for Statistics more for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
It is expected to bring together public and private measurements experts, statistical producers, information system specialists, and users, as well as all other key stakeholders to discuss data for sustainable development. The UN WDF is intended to serve as a platform for intensifying cooperation on data for sustainable development with multiple stakeholders, including information technology professionals, geospatial information managers, data scientists, data users, and members from civil society. Organization of a World Forum on Sustainable Development Data was one of the main recommendations of the UN Secretary-General’s Independent Expert and Advisory Group on Data Revolution for Sustainable Development.
