The G3ict Workshop on ICTs, SDGs, and Accessibility, which will take place in New Delhi, India, April 11 2016.
It is now widely accepted that technology will play a critical role in the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In fact, Goal 17 specifically talks about technology, particularly information and communications technology.
It is therefore imperative to ensure that as governments and other agencies walk the path towards 2030, technology must become inclusive and accessible to people with disabilities.
It is also important to promote greater cohesion between the work towards implementation of Article 9 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and that towards Agenda 2030. With this in mind, the DPI World Assembly is collaborating with the Global Initiative for Inclusive ICTs, G3ict, for a workshop on accessibility and disability rights.
This workshop will have two parts – an introduction to accessibility for leaders and experts with an aim to provide tools for advocacy, and another on public procurement as a policy strategy for digital inclusion and human rights.
