NEW YORK: United Spinal Association’s program, VetsFirst, will offer a free webinar on Wednesday, November 28th; from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST to provide tools for disabled veterans returning to work.
The webinar will help participants understand basic protections against discrimination based on disability and how to overcome barriers to employment. Participants will also walk through how to create a proactive plan for education and/or employment and learn about resources that can help facilitate the transition to work.
“VetsFirst wants to make sure that veterans with disabilities know about the rights and programs available to them as people with disabilities so that they can succeed in the workplace,” said Heather Ansley, Esq., MSW, webinar presenter and vice president of Veterans Policy for United Spinal’s VetsFirst program.
“Although many disabled veterans have the skills needed to qualify for employment opportunities and advance in their careers, barriers such as misinformation about disability and misperceptions about required accommodations, are preventing them from returning to the workforce,” she added.
